Prague, with its magnificient castle, Gothic towers, baroque churches, cobble-stoned lanes and Art Nouveau architecture, is one of Europe´s most visually stunning cities. Long hidden from the outsideworld behind the Iron Curtain, since the fall of communism it has opened up to an ever growing number of foreign visitors and is today a hugely popular tourist destination. With over 1000 years of history, this venerable city, right at the hearth of Europe, has seen more than its share of drama, from its medieval „golden age“, through its 16th century glory days as capital of the Holy Roman Empire, to the Nazi and Societ dictatorships of the 20th century. It was only in 1993 that the moden Czech Republic was formel, with Prague as its capital, while in 2004, the country joins the Erupean Union.
Prague is a prosperous, orderly and cosmopolitan city, whose laidback Citizen like nothing Berger than relaxing with a beer or two in one of the countless pubs. Innovative art galleries, museum, churches and synagogues rostle for your attention, while music is everywhere, from the Charles Bridge buskers to the many classical concerts, jazz clubs, clubs, cocktail bars around town. In fact, there is so much going on you will have trouble deciding just how much you can cram into one visit.
